Metode K-Nearest Neighbor Dalam Penentuan Penerima Beasiswa Berbasis Android

Abstract

Scholarship awarding is one form of appreciation given to outstanding students or those in need of financial assistance. However, the selection process for scholarship recipients often faces challenges such as subjectivity and the lack of a structured decision support system. This study aims to develop an Android-based application to assist schools in objectively determining scholarship recipients by implementing the K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN) method. K-NN is chosen for its ability to classify data based on proximity to previously known data. The data used include academic scores, attendance, parents’ income, and non-academic achievements. The system compares the data of applicants with historical data of previous recipients to determine the eligibility of each student. The testing results show that the system can provide accurate and consistent recommendations and is user-friendly for school administrators via Android devices. Therefore, this system is expected to be an effective decision support tool in the scholarship selection process at SMK Bina Satria.
