Manual road watering is often considered inefficient because it does not take into account real-time environmental conditions, which may lead to water wastage. To address this issue, this study designed and developed an automatic road watering device based on the Internet of Things (IoT) equipped with a DHT11 temperature sensor and a GP2Y1010AU0F dust sensor. The system utilizes the NodeMCU ESP8266 as the main microcontroller, which processes sensor data and transmits the information to the Blynk platform for remote monitoring. The working mechanism of the device begins with reading temperature and dust concentration in the air. If either parameter exceeds the predetermined threshold, the buzzer is activated as an alarm, followed by the automatic activation of a water pump to spray the road surface for a certain duration. After the watering process is completed, the system enters a delay mode to prevent repeated watering that may cause inefficiency. In addition to being monitored via the Blynk application, the system also records environmental data periodically, making it easier to analyze the effectiveness of the watering process. Field testing was conducted on a village road in Percut, which has relatively high dust levels, especially during dry weather conditions. The results show that the device can automatically water the road according to dust and temperature conditions, while also reducing potential water wastage through more efficient usage. This research is expected to provide an appropriate technological solution to support cleaner, healthier, and smarter environmental management.
